

The Age of the Flying Boat is a fifteen-page, all-watercolor manga published in three parts, in Model Graphix, a monthly magazine about scale models.

Our hero Porco is shot down in a dogfight with a self styled air ace called Curtis.Porco must rebuild his plane, Fight Mama Aiuto, run from the Italian government, engage in a final showdown with Curtis whilst courting the lovely Gina and saving young school girls from the clutches of Mama Aiuto, pay back Papa Piccolo for the renovation of his airplane, win a bet, break the curse, and save himself in the bargain. The story: Although most people are familiar with the dog fight scene from the Studio Ghibli animated film, the Hayao Miyazaki manga on which it’s based is largely unknown. Anarchy and war are coming to Italy and the adriatic pilots are being forced to join the Air Force or become fugatives from the law. As far as the story goes, its quite interesting in general, with a good mixture of action, fantasy, romance and humour. Now Porco has to tune up his plane and face his new rival in the ultimate dog fight.

When hes not engaging in dog fights, this pilot lives on a deserted island retreat. His bounty-hunting business comes under threat when an American pilot turns up and forms an alliance with the pirates to take him down. He is forced to do combat with a band of air pirates who never bathe and call themselves Mama Aiuto (Mothers Helper). Porco Rosso, a Studio Ghibli film Tokuma Shoten producer. He is now employed as a paid mercenary/problem solver and sea plane pilot in the Adriatic Sea for the side of good. Plot Summary: A dashing and brave WWI Pilot is transformed into a pig by a mysterious curse. Since Marco flies in a bright red seaplane, the Italian press calls him Porco Rosso, Scarlet Pig.
